Greetings All,
Well, it has been a busy week on the mountain. My girl just got a new assignment at Mountain Xpress to handle the Environmental section in addition to her duties as the new editor of the gardening and outdoor sections. We have had to do some re-evaluating regarding our remote location as of late, mostly due to gas prices and the sheer wear and tear on her from having to drive so much. We live about an hour away from everything she does for work and about two hours away from where she teaches karate three days a week. That has proven to be a brutal commute for her over the last year and we have decided that it is time to move closer to the city. The past five years I have spent up on this beautiful five acres of mountain, with the Appalachian Trail practically in my back yard has truly been an amazing gift. Although we are certainly sad to leave it, we hope to leave it in the hands of folks who will love and care for it as much as we do. We are visiting with our realtor on Friday and even though this may not be the best of times to put property on the market, I feel it won't last long because this is one very special place.
I have shared a few of the wonderful photographs I have taken up here over the years with y'all but here is one of my favorites. A wonderful winter sunset view from my front porch.
On a political note....the big VP debate is tomorrow night and while a lot of folks are waiting for Sarah Palin to bomb I think it is more likely she will do what this fellow who has debated her before suggests and what the most recent SNL Tina Fey sketch suggests as well...go folksy and try to make herself "more adorable" when backed into a corner. Either way, I hope the American people will give change a chance. I just cannot stand the thought of another 4 years of failed Republican policy. They use the word "reformation" and I have to admit when Sara Palin uses it I think of a world where someone else's version of morality gets shoved down my throat...for my own heathen good, of course. Have we not seen from other periods in our own history that puritanism does not make the world a better place?
Thanks to all of you that came by to visit from my interview over at Hahn at Home. The whole experience kind of made me feel like a "celebrity for a day". That was really fun and thanks again, Lori for inviting me to participate on your "Our Stories Series". There were a lot of great comments on the post and I will be writing further on the subject of forgiveness as a result of some of them.
Peace y'all

That photo is absolutely gorgeous! I used to live in Charlotte, NC and always enjoyed a trip to the mountains. I am extremely saddened for you that you have to leave (but can understand the "commute" problem)
Yes, I'm afraid a cornered Palin will just make her all the more "adorable." (*clearing throat* not that she had much empathy for the cornered in their dens wolves she advocated killing...too bad she's too stupid to relate)
And (unfortunately in that regard) Biden can be a tough S.O.B. (more straight talking than McCain ever hoped to be) which actually might play in her favor. It most likely will be spun by the media as "the big bad wolf vs Goldilocks."
a link for you...

LOL..i assure you the media will not spin Pali9n as "Goldilocks" they've already spent so much time spinning her as a whore, a cheater, a slut, a skank, a bimbo and a liar. I mean they'd haveto undo all that.
I like Palin. Good luck to her. Let's just how Biden isn't drunk tomorrow night, that would bee too much fun, but not really a fair fight.
I see you too suffer the curse of my friend Jenn. I have tried and tried to steer her to the correct path in life, but the trauma that caused her to break with reality must have been a strong one indeed.
I know Jenn is probably unaware of Sarahpoleon's interview performances, but for those of us who are; all she has to do in this debate is show up and get her name right, and she'll be judged as having been able to hold her own.
hey l.a.
Thanks for the comment and the links. I deal with toothless bear hunters here where I am . they turn their starving...oh sorry..."very fit" dogs loose for several weeks of "training" after having kept them chained to 55 gal. plastic barrels all winter with nothing else for cover. The let them run all over the mountain with radio transmitters on their collars and while they drink beer and throw their trash out all up and down the road to my house. Once the dogs pick up a bear they chase it until it is too tired and weak to fight and then they maul it. It is not uncommon to see the dead bears strapped like trophies to the top of the truck dog boxes with their faces ripped off. The "Hunters" locate the dogs and then triumphantly stride in and shoot the bear. Very sporting. Palin should try it sometime...she might enjoy it.
and as for you Jungle Jenny...
I feel sorry for your ignorance but there is no interest here in those who simply insist on maintaining it.
And the whole right wing crusader thing...I am not impressed...you are just a mean-spirited woman who gravitates toward that in your politics...and if you are more than that you sure don't show it.
As I have said to you before...good luck overcoming it.
Peace y'all
Hey JR,
Sorry JR, but I am not sure what you mean by my suffering the same curse a Jenn. She thinks palin would make a good vp...I am not burdened by that particular curse.
Care to clarify?
thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I enjoy the Palin humor on SNL, just like I enjoyed the Bill Clinton humor, the Reagan humor, the Dukakis humor, the GHW Bush humor, etc. over the years. It's satire and I like satire.
I don't "hate" Palin. I disagree with her methods and beliefs in governing Alaska and don't want her to be in a position to govern me.
My voting this year is platform, not personalities. And, the Democrats have the platform I believe is more closely aligned with my beliefs.
I'm with you...give change a chance. Four years will go by like a whiff of perfume unless or course we're getting more of the same.
