And So They Debated

I watched the debate between Obama and McCain along with millions of others and we will have as many different opinions about who won but, as we all know, it will be the media pronouncement of who won that will stick.

I think we are seeing a bit of a revolt among the big media journalists. Could it be that they are tiring of the way they have been used by their keepers? I laughed out loud when this exchange on CNN between Blitzer and Cooper took place after Blitzer spoke with Democratic VP hopeful Biden after the debate:

Blitzer says that maybe they will hear from Republican VP hopeful Sarah Palin and Cooper says "don't hold your breath".

While the right will yell "liberal media" could what we are seeing actually be that these journalists have come to the realization that these folks have no use for the press and mostly just want their cameras for photo ops? I certainly hope so because that is exactly what the McCain campaign seems to be saying with their refusal to allow the press access to Palin.

When speaking about Iran, Mr. McCain referred to the Revolutionary Guard as the Republican Guard...yes, that was Saddam's former group of enforcers, but I thought it more likley a Freudian slip. Mr. McCain is part of The Republican Guard that also seeks to impose its restrictive will and social agenda on America. Too bad Obama missed that opportunity to point that out and especially after he himself slipped and repeated McCain's gaffe.

Don't y'all just love You Tube? I know I do. Here is a little tidbit for you that I think showcases the Republican party's particular disdain for the idea of helping their fellow human beings and for those who believe that is the right thing to do.

Overall nice job, Obama.

Peace Y'all

At first, I thought that first video was from the Onion. Scientific poll????

Make Right Decisions About Iraq
McCain 55%
Obama 49%

Make Right Decisions About Economy
McCain 41%
Obama 68%

How do you get over 100%?

Interesting numbers indeed, Katie.

Hey BT,

I think what the poll is looking at was before and after the debate numbers on those questions and not the number split for this debate itself. I think they were looking at if the debate had an effect on those questions pre and post debate. I hope these numbers showing a shift away from McCain reflects the national consensus. I don't want to see McCain and Palin in the Whitehouse.

Martin,
I think the country needs to see these people speaking about their disdain for those of us who believe in helping each other without respect to class and gender.

Peace y'all

Did you catch when McCain was responding to Obama's Healthcare Plan and he said that it should be left up to the family and their (I swear he said) deceased.

Greetings GD,

No I did not catch that. I do know that their idea to give us a five thousand dollar tax break...and it would not surprise me if you don't have to be heterosexual, married with kids filing jointly to get that ... is ridiculous and a non-effective solution to this crisis.

Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.
